Sip fresh coffee and nosh on healthy breakfast treats while we host Marie Berry, Director of the Sié Chéou-Kang Center for International Security and Diplomacy in partnership with WorldDenver. Berry will be discussing her gender justice work and experiences with the women leading movements around the world. She will also tell attendees how they can get involved and support. Professor Berry is a feminist researcher and writer who focuses on war, gender and politics. She is currently working on the Women's Rights After War Project, which aims to evaluate how women's empowerment initiatives shape lives. She co-founded the Inclusive Global Leadership Initiative (IGLI), an effort to catalyze research, education, and programming aimed at elevating and amplifying the work that women-identified and gender non-conforming activists are doing at the grassroots to advance peace, justice, and human rights across the world.   She is an auntie, a sister, and a daughter; a feminist researcher and writer; a believer in kindness and justice; a lover of whales and elephants and (especially) basset hounds; a convener of spaces for building solidarity; and a big fan of swimming in oceans. About WorldDenverWorld Denver is a nonprofit community organization that promotes a greater understanding of world affairs and cultures throughout the Denver Metro area, creating and implementing unique programs that connect Coloradans with experts, leaders, and ideas from all over the world. The organization's reach is driven locally by approximately 1,000 members and more than 5,000 supporting community members. Their exchange programs bring about 600 international visitors from 120+ countries to Denver annually in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State through the International Visitor Leadership Program. As the World Affairs Council of Denver, WorldDenver also hosts 30-35 community engagement events annually, featuring distinguished  experts on current global issues. These events provide a unique opportunity for globally-minded Coloradans to network and hear directly from diplomats, authors, policy experts, and government officials.
